Accounting Assistant


 

 

The Education Trust seeks an Accounting Assistant to support the organization’s Operations Division.  Founded in 1992, The Education Trust works for the high academic achievement of all students, pre-kindergarten through college, with the goal of closing the gaps in opportunity and achievement that separate low-income students and students of color from other youth.  For additional information on The Education Trust, please visit www.edtrust.org.

 

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accounting Assistant will be responsible for the overall coordination and timely processing of the organizations vendor invoices and travel expense reports.

 

 

Major Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

·         Accurately process daily accounts payable invoices and payments in accordance with the Education Trusts’ payment policies.

·         Accurately process all employee expense reports for payment and billing to clients.

·         Work with staff, vendors and clients to resolve payment issues.

·         Properly code payments for 1099 processing.

·         Identify and assist in developing internal processes to expedite efficient processing of payment requests.

·         Update and maintain contract databases related to billing and contract administration.

·         Receive and review travel expense reports and consultant activity reports for Transforming School Counseling (TSC) department.

·         Serve as accounting liaison for TSC department.

·         Prepare bank deposits.

·         Organize, file, and maintain all accounts payable and billing related documentation.

·         Assist with annual audit preparation.

·         Assist with accounts payable and billing research.

·         Follow-up with clients to ensure timely payment of invoices.

·         Observe confidentiality in all organizational and client matters.

·         Serve as back-up to the Senior Accountant.

·         Assist with special projects, as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

 

·         A minimum of 2 years of work experience in accounts payable.

·         Ability to prioritize and to work independently.

·         Must be detail oriented and well organized.

·         Demonstrated ability to meet and work under tight deadlines.

·         Good communication and people skills.

·         Be a team player and provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

·         Knowledge of Quickbooks is a plus.

 

 

Compensation

 

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.  The Education Trust offers a comprehensive benefits package.
