Senior Associate for Transforming School Counseling
The Education Trust seeks a Senior Associate for Transforming School Counseling to support the organization’s National Center for Transforming School Counseling (NCTSC). Founded in 1992, The Education Trust works for the high academic achievement of all students, pre-kindergarten through college, with the goal of closing the gaps in opportunity and achievement that separate low-income students and students of color from other youth. Reporting to the Director of The Education Trust’s National Center for Transforming School Counseling, the Senior Associate will have the opportunity to work with a network of organizations, state departments of education, school counselor professional associations, institutions of higher education, and school districts across the country dedicated to transforming counselors into powerful agents of change within their schools. The NCTSC’s goal is to optimize the work of the school counselor as an assertive advocate in school improvement efforts to ensure that all students graduate ready for success in both college and career.
- Two or more years of experience as a high school counselor.
- Deep knowledge of the Transforming School Counseling initiative and strong beliefs about the role of the school counselor as an advocate for students and a leader in systemic school reform.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Preference for candidates with experience in conducting trainings or presenting in professional learning environments.
- Results-oriented and achievement-driven approach to tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to collaborate well with others, both inside and outside the organization.
- Ability to communicate findings from policy and data analysis to a diverse audience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and Power Point)
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 45-60% of the time.
Compensation
