Senior Practice Associate (Revised)


 

The Education Trust seeks a Senior Practice Associate to support the organization’s Division of Program and Policy.  Founded in 1992, The Education Trust works for the high academic achievement of all students, pre-kindergarten through college, with the goal of closing the gaps in opportunity and achievement that separate low-income students and students of color from other youth.  For additional information on The Education Trust, please visit www.edtrust.org.

 

Reporting to the Associate Director of PK-12 for School & District Assistance, the Senior Practice Associate will have the opportunity to work directly on issues of significance across the landscape of professional practice in local and district schooling.  The work includes active engagement with school teachers, counselors, administrators, researchers, and community leaders.  The Senior Associate will help to ensure critical examination of standards, curriculum, policy, and the trajectory toward college and career readiness. 

 

Major Responsibilities

 

The Senior Practice Associate will work as a member of the Education Trust’s Practice team.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

·      Provide training for teachers and local school and district-level administrators through ongoing Education Trust projects, including the High School Reform Toolkit and the Standards in Practice (SIP) protocols.

·      Coordinate efforts between the Practice and Policy teams of the Education Trust to move the organizational agenda forward.

·      Conduct presentations, data shows, and workshops at local and national conferences to educate stakeholders about ways in which schools can address misaligned instructional practices that lead to the achievement gap.

·      Organize and construct slide show presentations for a variety of audiences within the education policy and practice communities.

·      Actively seek opportunities to integrate the practice work of the Education Trust’s national office with that of the Education Trust-West to strengthen the delivery of the message during the audit work and implementation of accompanying audit tools.

·      Research for, read and/or write reports or articles with the focus on conveying the Education Trust’s work and positions to educator audiences.

·      Other duties and responsibilities as assigned that support the total practice team and its agenda.

 

Qualifications

 

·      Teaching experience or local school/district-level work with the development of curriculum preferable.

·      Experience with analyzing curriculum, formative and/or summative assessment, and standards alignment.

·      Familiarity with issues of access, teacher quality, instructional practice, and curriculum as they relate to achievement among traditionally disadvantaged students.

·      Strong writing and communication skills.

·      Results-oriented, achievement-driven approach to tasks.

·      Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

·      Ability to work independently and take initiative.

·      Ability to collaborate well with others, both inside and outside the organization.

·      Ability to communicate findings from policy and data analysis to a diverse audience.

·      Ability to travel 30% to 50% of the time.

 

Compensation

 

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.  The Education Trust offers a comprehensive benefits package.
