NAACP Partnership

In the fall of 2003, The Education Trust entered into a partnership with The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to support the implementation of their Call to Action at the state and local levels.  In October, several members of The Education Trust staff met with Dr. Jackson, NAACP National Education Director, and his staff to discuss possible collaborative efforts. These initiatives included making Education Trust data available to local communities through NAACP regional and local meetings, conducting presentations/data trainings at their regional meetings and establishing a relationship with their policy office.

In addition, The Education Trust was asked to provide state level education data for each state at all of the NAACP regional meetings beginning January 2003 (see PowerPoint presentations and Data Sheets). At each regional meeting, The Education Trust provided data on achievement, attainment, opportunity gaps and frontier schools/districts in each state. Through this process, The Education Trust data is now available to communities in all 50 states.
