“College Ready, Work Ready, Same Preparation” is the mission of the Center. Everyone working in school systems has a critical role to play in helping schools meet the needs of underserved students, especially school counselors. Compelling data underscore the need for school counselors to work effectively to improve academic results for low-income students and students of color.

History of the Center
In June 2003, the Education Trust and MetLife Foundation established the National Center for Transforming School Counseling (NCTSC) to ensure school counselors across the country are trained and ready to help ALL groups of students reach high academic standards. Birthed at a critical time when states, districts, and schools were raising standards and implementing accountability systems, the Center set out to ensure that counselors would play a critical role for advancing the equity agenda.
