Executive Director, The Education Trust–West (Oakland, CA) |
Reporting to the President, Kati Haycock, the ETW Executive Director oversees all areas of the West Coast work. The position calls for a strategic leader, preferably with deep knowledge about education in California and a passion for the organization’s mission. The person must have strong managerial skills, be a proven fundraiser, have the ability to motivate and work with diverse stakeholders, and have the capacity to create and nurture effective partnerships and alliances. The Director of Development is a new position at The Education Trust, and he or she will provide overall direction, coordination, and implementation of the organization’s fundraising operations while serving as a member of the organization’s management team. (more)
Reporting to the Director of K-12 Policy Development, the Policy Analyst will draw lessons from the best available data, research, and practical experiences to inform and advance the organization’s policy agenda, which is aimed at ensuring that all students receive the educational opportunities they need and deserve. The associate editor helps shape a wide array of publications that support the organization’s policy, practice, and advocacy work. Reporting to the director of publications, the associate editor helps the organization convey its messages in a clear and compelling fashion and ensures that all publications are timely, well written, and error free. Director of Legislative Affairs |
The Education Trust seeks a Director of Legislative Affairs to design and implement federal legislative campaigns around both its K-12 and higher education policy agenda. Reporting to the Vice President for Government Affairs and Communications, the Legislative Director will participate in internal strategy and policy development teams and will have primary responsibility for leading the development and execution of effective federal legislative strategies. Reporting to the Vice President for Government Affairs and Communications, the Administrative Assistant will provide strategic management of the Vice President’s schedule, coordinate meetings with internal and external contacts, prepare expense reports, track cross divisional projects, and provide general day-to-day administrative support to the Government Affairs and Communications team. The role is a pivotal support position, as the Administrative Assistant is a key liaison among staff members and between the Vice President and external partners. (more)

Communications Specialist |
As a member of the Government Affairs and Communications team reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Specialist will be the primary point of contact for media throughout the nation, supporting the organization’s efforts to increase awareness of, and commitment to, The Education Trust’s mission. This position is responsible for implementing comprehensive and effective strategies to reach a variety of target audiences. (more)

Reporting to the Director of Communications, this bright, quick thinker’s primary function is to help convey the Education Trust message in clear, compelling language through a variety of formats and to a variety of audiences. As a key member of this team, reporting to the Director of Communications, the Manager of New Media is a strategic thinker who can lead The Education Trust’s efforts in the Web 2.0 realm to increase commitment to our mission of closing the gaps in achievement and opportunity. The Manager of New Media is firmly entrenched in the new media space and responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive and effective online strategies to inform and activate a variety of target audiences. The Education Trust internship program is for individuals who believe that ALL students can achieve at high levels and want to work as part of a team committed to that goal. The program is designed for undergraduates, recent graduates, and graduate students who are capable of doing staff-level work under minimal supervision. Interns are treated as members of the staff and are expected to perform a wide variety of tasks. (more)
